Here at the Inglorious Bustards, experiencing the powerful event of bird migration has led to a life-long fascination with avian migration and #FlywayBirding. It’s no accident that we have chosen our base to be here in The Straits of Gibraltar. Our location near Tarifa puts us right at the epicentre of birding in The Straits and, from a migrating raptor’s point of view, we must surely also be at the centre of the world!
We love not only to marvel at the birds passing but also to follow them on their migratory journey, and explore the whole range of fascinating and varied terrains they traverse each year.
More than that though, we love to share our adventures with you! As well as our home-from-home in southern Spain, we take pride in bringing you the best of birding and migration spectacles along the whole East Atlantic flyway journey, through Europe, and North Africa, right down to the steamy wintering grounds of many of our nomads, south of the Sahara. Our #FlywayBirding tours have nothing to do with racing around ticking birds and everything to do with enjoying landscapes, habitats and cultures and having a good laugh – at a relaxed pace.
If like us you enjoy amazing wildlife spectacles where adventure meets relaxation and fun, then you have found the right place!

A message about the coronavirus (COVID-19)
You are no doubt aware of the consequences of the global coronavirus pandemic in which we find ourselves. Here in Spain, we have been operating under a State of Alarm since 14 March 2020, with strict limitations on the movement of people and vehicles.
We were very disappointed to have had to cancel our tours and day-guiding within this period. The health and safety of our clients and avoiding the spread of this disease in wider society have been and always will be our top priorities.
As Spain begins a phased lockdown de-escalation, from 11 May 2020 we entered Phase 1 and are happy to be able to host residents of Cádiz province for birding day tours or short trips within the province, while strictly following official rules and procedures on hygiene and social distancing. This can be extended to other Spanish provinces once both have mutually surpassed Phase 3 de-escalation.
We are keeping a close eye on international travel advice from the World Health Organisation, Spanish government and relevant Foreign Offices. We are increasingly hopeful that international travel to Spain from many countries will once again be available from July, and we hope to be able to safely deliver trips scheduled for later this year. We are happy to take no-financial-obligation provisional bookings for tours booked between now and August – just contact us to register your interest and talk further.
Spring migration continues regardless, and we’ll continue to bring you news and uplifting images of this magnificent spectacle! We’ll also be working on furthering some of our exciting conservation projects along the East Atlantic Flyway. We hope that with everyone’s collaboration this situation will soon improve and we will see you soon in The Straits and beyond to enjoy the best of #FlywayBirding.

We have turned traditional so-called “eco-tourism” on its head, putting conservation action and education at the very heart of what we do, not just as a guilt-assuaging afterthought to our trips.
