Located in the coastal hills of Andalucía just outside the picturesque Spanish town of Tarifa, the Inglorious Bustards are based right at the epicentre of birding in The Straits of Gibraltar. And from a migrating raptor’s point of view, we must surely also be at the centre of the world!
Inglorious Bustards are birders, conservationists, travellers, and all-around Nature-lovers. We love to marvel at the hundreds of thousands of birds that pass overhead, and to follow them on their migratory journey, exploring the whole range of fascinating and varied terrains they traverse each year.
And we love to share our adventures with you! As well as our home in southern Spain, we take pride in bringing you the best of birding in Andalucía and other migration spectacles along the East Atlantic Flyway journey, through Europe and North Africa, right down to the steamy wintering grounds of many of our nomads, south of the Sahara.
If like us, you enjoy amazing wildlife spectacles where adventure meets relaxation and fun, then you have found the right place!
Between us we have great experience in Nature conservation, ecology, tour leading and the hospitality industry, and we use it to bring you fantastic wildlife spectacles alongside chilled-out birding, local culture and sustainable food.

A message about the coronavirus (COVID-19) – updated 26 July 2020
You are no doubt aware of the consequences of the global coronavirus pandemic in which we find ourselves.
Here in Spain, we entered our “new normal” on 21 June 2020, after operating under a State of Alarm since 14 March 2020 and progressing through a phased lockdown de-escalation. This allows freedom of movement throughout Spain and the re-commencement of most activities, in adherence with strict ongoing health precautions designed to prevent the emergence of a second wave of COVID-19 cases.
Although some cities and areas in north-east Spain returned to localised lockdown procedures in mid-July, 44 of Spain’s 50 provinces remain completely open for safe travel – including our beloved Cádiz province in Andalucía.
We are happy to be able to host residents of Spain for birding day tours or short trips, while strictly following official rules and procedures on hygiene and social distancing.
Spain announced the opening of its borders to most European countries from 1 July, with no quarantine measures for arriving travellers.
With the announcement of Europe-wide “air bridges” on 4 July, international travel to Spain from many countries is now available with health precautions en route but no quarantine measures at either end of the trip, and we are now safely delivering scheduled trips for people from these countries.
We are keeping a close eye on international travel advice from the World Health Organisation, Spanish government and relevant Foreign Offices. We do of course accept that things can change, so we are currently taking no-financial-obligation provisional bookings for future tours – just contact us to register your interest and talk further.
We can’t stress enough that the health and safety of our clients and avoiding the spread of this disease in wider society have been and always will be our top priorities. You can book with confidence that we are fully compliant with the official guidance set out by the Spanish Ministry for Industry, Commerce & Tourism, and by the local Junta de Andalucía for both tourism and “active tourism” specifically. Additionally we take advice from our independent risk prevention consultants, Quirón Prevención.
Upon booking and arrival you will receive an up-to-date copy of our COVID-19 Safety Protocol, outlining the safety measures we are taking and your own responsibilities as a trip participant.
We hope that with everyone’s collaboration this situation will continue to improve and we will see you soon in The Straits and beyond to enjoy the best of #FlywayBirding. Don’t hesitate to contact us – email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +34 665 94 59 92 or +34 722 25 43 57.

We have turned traditional so-called “eco-tourism” on its head, putting conservation action and education at the very heart of what we do, not just as a guilt-assuaging afterthought to our trips.
