Inglorious Bustards are a fully registered and insured tour operator, if you require information about our insurance details see below or contact us.
We want you to have the best possible time on your holiday and we’ve done our very best to make sure you have a relaxed, enthralling and totally amazing time with us. We are really looking forward to welcoming you and sharing our adventures together.
We are a small company and whilst we are not based on huge profits (compare our prices with anyone else) we take the comfort of your holiday and the smooth operation of the tour very seriously. That is why booking with us doesn’t involve us sending you! We take you! Adventure, together!
We also take the welfare and conservation of the nature we are lucky to witness extremely seriously and the welfare of these species and the protection of the environment is paramount to us. Of course we have an impact in our daily lives and by simply using the necessary transport and ac- commodations for this trip has an impact but we also use this as an opportunity to promote and support truly sustainable ecotourism. We do this by supporting local villagers, herders, farmers, landowners, food producers, local naturalists and conservation organisations in instigating new or expanding existing conservation projects . We will give you more specific information about this and how it relates to our trip.
Below you will find important information regarding your holiday, please do read it and feel free to raise any queries with us.
In accordance with “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all EU/UK passengers booking a holiday are fully protected for all monies paid, arising from cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Inglorious Bustards, who takes all payments.
We hold ‘in trust’ a fund managed on our behalf by a trustee in the UK that covers all payments made to Inglorious Bustards and in the unlikely event of insolvency money reimbursements will be made from the trust to any required beneficiaries who had made any prepayments.
Inglorious Bustards Insurance
We are a fully insured company with specific tour operators insurance. Further details of which we are happy to provide upon request.
Our insurance cover extends to any activity we perform as a tour operator or organiser.
Our insurance fully covers us, including public liability and crisis management and containment.
We are insured by Fusion Insurance Services. This entitles us to Worldwide cover excluding USA and Canada (where we do not currently operate). The policy is underwritten by Hiscox Underwriting Ltd on behalf of Hiscox Insurance Company Limited.
Whilst our insurance provides adequate cover for our activities it is still a legal requirement and a requirement set-out in these conditions that you must hold your own travel insurance for the duration of the tour with us. Details of your insurance must be provided no later than 1 week before your arrival date.
Your travel Insurance
Since travel insurance is a legal requirement, we will need a copy of your insurance policy number and details prior to any trips. we cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss or damage of any personal effects whatsoever; the same applies to any personal injury, illness or accident. Although we take the upmost care to ensure this doesn’t happen at all times and our insurance covers you additionally whilst on our trips we still make it requirement of our tours that you hold your own travel insurance.
Most travel insurance plans are package plans that include various coverage like trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, lost or delayed baggage, medical coverage, medical evacuation which should be seen as minimum coverage requirements.
We additionally suggest your policy includes travel disruption or scheduled airline failure cover in the unfortunate event that the airline you are travelling with ceases to exist.
We are unable to accept any responsibility for extra costs incurred as a result of delays by ferries, airlines, strikes, or any other causes beyond our control. We will however always seek alternative options and solutions wherever possible.
We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the holidays published in this website have been properly arranged, and that the vehicles, any drivers we may use, hotel and restaurants are all reputable. We will accept liability as a direct result of negligence or breach of contractual duty in making arrangements for you, including omissions by our agents. We will also accept liability for death, personal injury or illness arising out of our negligence or that of our employees, agents or suppliers. In the case of any other loss or damage suffered as a result of our negligence or that of our employees, agents or suppliers we limit the maximum extent of our liability to twice the amount paid for the holiday in question. We cannot accept liability for claims arising out of carriage by air, sea or land as we have no control over the carriers or providers and you are subject to their terms & conditions, which are governed by International conventions which exclude or limit liability in respect of death, injury, delay and loss or damage to baggage. We will also not accept liability for matters such as losses or additional expenses incurred as a result of transport delays, sickness, weather, strikes, war or other political crises, acts of God or other events which amount to force majeure.
We will not accept liability if any deficiency, personal injury, or death that does not result from any fault on our part or on the part of our suppliers but is caused by your own acts and/or omissions, by the acts or omissions of a third party or by circumstances which neither we nor our suppliers could have anticipated or avoided even exercising due care.
In the unlikely event that you have cause to complain you should notify at least one of your party leaders as soon as possible in order that we may assist you. If you are not satisfied thereafter, please fill in a complaints form (always available from the Tour Leader) or notify us in writing, stating the nature of the complaint within 14 days of the completion of the holiday.

We reserve the right to cancel at our discretion any tour that has insufficient bookings, in the event of which an alternative holiday may be offered. Anyone declining the new offer will naturally be refunded in full. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel, you will be informed in writing not less than 40 days before the departure date.
Cancellation by you
Should you need to cancel your holiday for whatever reason, we can only accept notice in writing and this will only be effective from the day we receive it (email is acceptable).
Unfortunately due to charges we will have incurred setting up the tour the following charges will apply for cancellation in all cases: More than 8 weeks: deposit only; 8 – 5 weeks: 50% of total cost; less than 5 weeks: 100% of cost.
We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when you book your holiday to cover you in the unseen event of needing to cancel.
We can in certain cases transfer money to another tour or tour date, please contact us immediately so we can avoid any unnecessary charges for you . The last thing we want is for you to miss out!
Understandably we use a variety of transport methods, including ferries, boats, cars and minibuses whilst on tour with us.
Day to day travel is conducted by ourselves or our trusted logistic support team using fully serviced nine seater minibuses. All our drivers are naturally insured, licensed and do not carry any endorsements and are professional drivers with often additional training and licences. At Inglorious Bustards we have exacting requirements for all of our transport providers and drivers so that you have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable journey with us.
We offer one of the best leader per group size around but we also recognise that the enjoyment of the natural world can be a beautiful social event. Therefore we invariably limit our group size between 6 – 12 clients. If the group exceeds 8 clients we will always have two tour leaders.
