Buzzing for Birdfair!

Things are hotting up for Birdfair in the Inglorious camp!

Last week we received our gorgeous artwork from our friend Holly at World of Twigg, so the early part of this week saw us gleefully designing t-shirts which we will be modelling at the event!

There’s been a good bit of important training going in too, and we’ve successfully worked our way through 24 ales named after birds in the last couple of evenings.
This was helped in no small part by our good friends Maria and Juan from Salarte, who will be coming with us to Birdfair in our big yellow Bustard bus!

We’re no strangers to Birdfair – last year we were lucky enough to give a talk on turtle dove conservation and our work with Conservation Grade to produce Fair to Nature peanuts for bird food (you can read all about that particular adventure on the Conservation Grade blog pages…).

You may also have met us on the RSPB stand in previous years, talking to folk about issues like raptor persecution and illegal hunting in the Mediterranean.

Unfortunately, you may also have been unlucky enough to share a campsite with us and the Next Generation Birders…

This year we’re looking forward to chilling out with our friends old and new from the birding world, such as Jonathan and the crew from Champions of the Flyway, Pete from Azores Nature, Alan and Ruth of Biggest Twitch fame and Rich from Yorkshire Coast Nature

And to make sure that this year is our best Birdfair ever, Simon is marking the event with his first ever tattoo! Here’s the outline, you’ll have to look out for the finished product at Birdfair…

You’ll generally find us hovering somewhere in the vicinity of the beer tent – come say hello, we’d love to meet you!

'Here at the Inglorious Bustards, experiencing the powerful event of bird migration has led to a life-long fascination with avian migration and #FlywayBirding. It’s no accident that we have chosen our base to be here in the Straits of Gibraltar. Our location between Gibraltar and Tarifa puts us right at the epicentre of birding in the Straits and, from a migrating raptor’s point of view, we must surely also be at the centre of the world! We love not only to marvel at the birds passing but also to follow them on their migratory journey, and explore the whole range of fascinating and varied terrains they traverse each year. More than that though, we love to share our adventures with you!'
