The ethos behind Inglorious Bustards´ Nature tourism has always been to use travel to bring positive outcomes for biodiversity in the places we visit and beyond. We came to the ecotourism industry from a background in sustainable agriculture, travel and conservation, full of ideas about how the market can be used to drive conservation initiatives, and determined to put these into practice across the East Atlantic Flyway.

The strange case of a Black Kite marked in Tarifa and recovered in Benin, West Africa.
Migratory birds don’t recognise borders, and finding out where they are passing through, and going to and from is vital not only to understand the threats and areas for conservation but also to bring to life the epic story of migration. Flyway-scale conservation and funding must be driven by good science, wise spending and cross-border,Continue reading “The strange case of a Black Kite marked in Tarifa and recovered in Benin, West Africa.”

Welcome to #FlywayBirding!
It’s always a joy to observe birds in any location, but what if there was a way to experience their whole journey? We’re currently bucking the avian trend and heading north to Birdfair where, as well as enjoying a fab weekend with friends old and new, we’ll be introducing folk to the concept of FlywayContinue reading “Welcome to #FlywayBirding!”
AvianAir is now cleared for take-off!
With migration curtailed by several days of strong easterlies (strong enough to bring a tree down on the Bustard-mobile, but that’s another story!), and many thousands of soaring birds anxious to make the journey south, this week it became a little like a crowded airport departure lounge here in the Straits! Flocks of Black KitesContinue reading “AvianAir is now cleared for take-off!”
A right ol’ Wensum do!
Recently we hosted a group from Wensum Valley Bird Society from Norfolk, UK at the end of April. We delighted in Birding on Two Continents with them and as with all our trips we became the best of friends in travel and adventure! If you have a group, bird / wildlife club or simply aContinue reading “A right ol’ Wensum do!”
A Moroccan mini-adventure!
Just a short ferry trip away from Tarifa, Northern Morocco offers superb birding opportunities, putting a trip to North Africa´s teeming wetlands, ancient forests and towering mountains within easy reach of a Spanish wildlife holiday. This we were keen to demonstrate to our good friends Iain and Janet so, as the sun rose on ourContinue reading “A Moroccan mini-adventure!”
What a year!
Sitting atop the cliffs outside of Tarifa today, we happily wiled away the final daylight hours of 2017 pretty much as we began, gazing out over the narrow stretch of water that separates Europe from Africa, at the epicentre of the East Atlantic Flyway! We were there in the hope of grabbing an extra coupleContinue reading “What a year!”
Star-studded Birding in Morocco; Can We Pap a Pode..?
Birding in north-western Morocco has been bringing us a wealth of avian ‘A’-listers, and now we were headed for the beautiful little gem of Oualidia in search of the ultimate reclusive star bird, the Andalusian Hemipode. Thought extinct, the small population that breeds here was rediscovered in the 2000s. On the neighbouring farmland, in 2007,Continue reading “Star-studded Birding in Morocco; Can We Pap a Pode..?”
Star-studded Birding in Morocco; Finding the Cream of the Coursers
Avian ‘A’-listers abound in north western Morocco, and we were on a mission to meet – and hopefully pap – them with wildlife photographer and artist Tony Mills. Having bathed with dreamy Eleonora’s Falcons in Essaouira, our ‘Choc & Pode’ tour took us north along the coast road to the heath and farmland around Safi.Continue reading “Star-studded Birding in Morocco; Finding the Cream of the Coursers”
