Flyway Promise

We have turned traditional so-called “eco-tourism” on its head, putting conservation action and education at the very heart of what we do, not just as a guilt-assuaging afterthought to our trips.  We´ve thought hard about how to bring a completely fresh approach to delivering wildlife holidays from a sustainable standpoint, making only a positive impact on our surroundings.  And we’ve worked extremely hard to build some fantastic partnerships to help us!

A Swift Weekend to Remember

4 Days. 5 Swift Species. 135 bird species. 13 Spain ticks. 5 world Lifers.  And aside from the numbers, this trip offered just a superb weekend of birding in Andalusia with our guest John, in wetland, farmland, woodland and mountain habitats, giving fantastic views of all the wealth of breeding bird species the area hasContinue reading “A Swift Weekend to Remember”

Welcome to #FlywayBirding!

It’s always a joy to observe birds in any location, but what if there was a way to experience their whole journey? We’re currently bucking the avian trend and heading north to Birdfair where, as well as enjoying a fab weekend with friends old and new, we’ll be introducing folk to the concept of FlywayContinue reading “Welcome to #FlywayBirding!”

Punk Is Not Dead!

Sitting proudly on a nest made of twigs, old wet wipes and what appears to be a leopard-print thong, the bird blinks at the downdraft of a passing truck, shakes the irridescent mohawk sprouting haphazardly out of the back of its raw-looking bald head, and returns to the task of tending its extraordinary metallic greenContinue reading “Punk Is Not Dead!”

5 reasons you should make a Swift decision this July!

July can be a quiet time for the UK-based Birder, with young and moulting birds skulking in full leaved bushes and trees, quiet and notoriously hard to find. Southern Spain is perhaps not the first place that springs to mind for birding in midsummer but it in fact holds many delights!  And, in theContinue reading “5 reasons you should make a Swift decision this July!”

If you have a group, bird / wildlife club or simply aContinue reading “A right ol’ Wensum do!”

A Moroccan mini-adventure!

Just a short ferry trip away from Tarifa, Northern Morocco offers superb birding opportunities, putting a trip to North Africa´s teeming wetlands, ancient forests and towering mountains within easy reach of a Spanish wildlife holiday. Mega migration fest!

We are very proud to support and contribute in a small way to the work of Fundación Migres.
We’ve made no secret of the fact that here at the Inglorious Bustards we are self confessed migration junkies! We have shared some magnificent experiences this year collaborating with Migres in conducting counts or witnessing with visiting migration lovers like you!

Four magic Pyrenean moments that´ll knock your woolly socks off!

The Pyrenees area in winter is beautiful, exciting, adventurous and fun!  It’s a challenging place to survive for wildlife, and the harsh conditions bring some star avian species within easy reach for the intrepid birder, allowing to see them how you’ve never seen them before! This is an area all about the specialists, and spending qualityContinue reading “Four magic Pyrenean moments that´ll knock your woolly socks off!”

New Year, New Patch

After a particularly rock and roll New Years Eve, consisting of Toy Story 3, slippers and a bottle of Limoncello, we blew off the old cobwebs this week by exploring our new patch in the bright 2018 sunshine. We’ve recently moved to the village of Facinas, just along the coast from our accommodation partners atContinue reading “New Year, New Patch”
